Ten years ago, I ‘woke up’ and went on my own diet – very low fat. Didn’t excercise at all for the first twenty pounds, then discovered the joy of walking. In about a year, I’d lost 55 pounds. Kept it off for years too!
But life changes, and so did my lifestyle. Divorced, moved half way across the country, remarried to a skinny guy who can eat anything and not gain an ounce, was fortunate to go back to work for my old employer as a telecommuter (read: never have to get dressed, never have to leave the house), and went through menopause (joy). Discovered real TexMex meals!
Too hot & humid here for me to enjoy walking.
I have gained back every pound i’d lost, and then some. I have very few clothes that fit, and the way I feel about my appearance is damaging in every phase of my life.
This has to stop. Now.
*Decide on an eating plan that fits my current lifestyle. Probably low fat again, I know it works.
*Develop a menu and grocery shopping list.
*Come up with a menu for my husband that works with mine – he can’t survive on low fat!
*Dust off the treadmill, and set easily attainable goals (at first) for using it. A little effort on the treadmill is better than none.
Most importantly-
*REMEMBER KNOW HOW MUCH I WANT THE END RESULT, AND WHATEVER ‘SACRIFICES’ ARE MADE ARE MINIMAL IN COMPARISON
oh, yah… and do it ;-)
