I love teaching, I love helping others learn, and I love watching a person who’s never programmed before become able to solve standard problems in computer science.

It’s boring at times (anyone who’s graded hundreds of pages of code knows what I mean), but for me, it gives a satisfying result.

I walked from town to town with a sleeping bag. I was in despair at the time—bummed out, completely on my own, and nothing but my sleeping bag. Being “homeless” for the day was quite an experience in someone else’s shoes.

The experience was worth it.

And I might have it again soon. It’s incredibly ugly. I think the only people who told me they liked it must have really liked me, because I don’t know how anyone can like me with long hair.

Worth it for the experience.
