I used to bite my thumb knuckles and my index finger knuckles but somehow I stopped biting the knuckles two months ago. Now I only bite the skin around my fingernails. My knuckles look so normal now and I am no longer self-conscious about them. It has been a huge confidence booster and I can go up to anyone and talk without worrying about them noticing my raw red knuckles. I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to stop biting the skin around my fingers, it wont be anytime soon..

How I did it: Last January I decided it was time to make a life change. One of my New Year's resolutions was to shake my shyness off completely. I had gone 18 years of my life being shy and I was sick of it! I hated being silent and awkward all the time. I hated to hide my true self and smile and blush. I hated people thinking that I was weird and socially awkward. I needed to change. The first step of my process was to take a class that would force me … Read how I did it…
I stopped biting the skin on my knuckles but i still bite the skin on the tips of my fingers and my finger nails. nobody has said anything about my knuckles because they look so much better. They are almost completely healed! I cant wait until they look like they’ve never been touched. Im almost completely away from this habit.
Well I posted on here before and said I quit for 5 days. Well shortly after that post I started again because of stress and school. I have had this problem for over 10 years now and I am 18 years old. I am always self-conscience about it and trying to hide my fingers. A few weeks ago my coworker asked about them and I couldn’t give her an answer, it was so embarrassing. If I beat this habit then I can be more socially normal.
Now that school is out I want to stop for good because I will be going on a mission soon. I can’t have this problem on my mission! I also have a girlfriend who surprisingly hasn’t noticed my problem so I want to quit before she finds out!
I will use fingernail clippers to clean out my nails whenever I feel the urge to bite. And I am going to put anti-biotic lotion on them every night to speed up the healing. This has seemed to work in the past. I also want to try using a nail file on the skin to smooth it out.
I hope to finally beat this horrible embarrassing habit! I will keep you updated on my progress. I am so glad that I am not the only one and we can all share this misery together.
Wish me luck!
