Sometimes awkward, totally worth it. 2 years ago

After trying a bunch of times and then going on a trip to Vegas on my own, I can say that I’m now comfortable going out by myself. It can get awkward at times – when you’re eating by yourself or going to a bar on your own (I didn’t try that one) – but most of the time, it’s not scary at all. In fact, it gives you a chance to think, people-watch, gather material for your blog, gain some self-confidence.

Try it! You can start off with baby steps: grab a coffee on your own, go grocery shopping or hang out at a bookstore, and then gradually work your way up to trips and meals.

On hold. 2 years ago

Since I was assigned to learn Italian for our trip in September, I’m gonna have to put this off for a while…. thwarted!

Shopping on your own is fun! 3 years ago

I walked around downtown Seattle by myself after getting my bangs trimmed and got a makeover at the MAC counter at Nordstrom. It wasn’t scary and I didn’t get all self conscious, in fact, I felt MORE confident.

The only con about that entire me-centric day was that I got a little carried away with my shopping and spent a little too much money.

Next challenge? Solo trip (for a work-related conference) to Las Vegas!
