How I did it: I was getting fed up with feeling bad all the time. And, for whatever reason, I started fearing getting diabetes. I used to think I felt bad because I was obese (I started this goal at 231 pounds). The weight wasn't a cause of feeling bad... it was a symptom of eating too many grains and sugars. Other symptoms: depression, headaches, heartburn, fatigue, IBS. Yuck.I'd done a low carb diet several times and even got within 1 pound of … Read how I did it…
How I did it: I made myself sit with the guitar or keyboard or pen and write. The motivation doesn't come naturally, so I have to "just do it" Nike style. I took the first week of November off work to give me more time. I don't think I could do it if I didn't get a good head start. Read how I did it…
How I did it: I opened the journal to the next blank page and wrote "The Lake and the Leaning Tree" in black ink. Then I wrote "Saturday" in purple ink. I continued writing the lyrics for the rest of the songs with cycling through those ink colors. Read how I did it…

- Get a new heater unit
- Get things to hang on my bedroom walls
Out of necessity, I got a new furnace. The pilot light on my 30-year old furnace kept going out whenever it was rainy. Now I don’t have to worry about getting up several times in the middle of the cold night to relight the furnace.
I also hung a Tibetan flag on the bare wall over my bed. We had office Olympics in August, and I was on team Tibet. The flag is colorful and makes me happy to look at it, so over the bed it went.
