Well i really thought I was an assertive person but actually I am not. I seem to be assertive in situations where I know other people such as friends and family but in a work situation i feel very vulnerable and tend to be a doormat especially with my boss who used to treat me very badly. I need to learn to speak up and no what i want.
I am reading a really good book at the moment : Assertiveness and the right to be you by Claire Walmsley. Its already helping me change my attitude which tends to slant to the negative side alot when things get tough. But this book really helps you take control and you feel more confident and happy for it…..
this is a really hard thing to do if you are naturally passive and hate conflict and so I really am working to change this…good luck to others who are too!!
