I’m really enjoying getting to know Queens better. I’ve recently spent time in:
Forest Hills – really nice area with a good main shopping strip (Austin St.) and tree-lined streets with Tudor-style houses and a suburban feel.
Astoria – really ethnically diverse and bursting with nice restaurants of all kinds. Also has the Beer Garden and a great waterfront park.
Flushing – has a Chinatown that I like more than Manhattan’s, with huge grocery stores and tons of places to get ridiculously cheap, good food.
Long Island City – but I only went to P.S. 1.
I still want to check out:
-More of L.I.C.
-Flushing Meadows/Corona Park
-Jackson Heights
-Sunnyside
We finally started our indoor garden this week, in a seed starter box. We planted two kinds of tomatoes, peas, string beans, basil, cilantro, hot peppers, green onion, and lettuce. I have no idea how any of them will turn out, but I’ve never grown anything before, so I will be impressed if our little apartment garden yields anything edible.
