Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

Back on the waggon!

Got a gym membership and am planning on running another 10k in the summer- just ran 4.5k in 41 minutes which is not amazing, but definitely a start! :)

try bubble tea
Liked it! :P

weird, warm and sweet – much like the people I love ^^

The cows are home! :D

Yeah baby.

Go to a WOMAD festival (read all 2 entries…)

It was absolutely amazing and I strongly recommend it! I understand they have them all over Europe or at least in Spain as well as the UK and I really think it’s well worth going. Prince Harry likes WOMAD as much as the rasta people and the families and the disabled and the cool kids do. It’s great!

Memos for the next time:

1) Print out the programme at home, they charge £5 for it there.
2) Put alarms into your phone for the one band you don’t want to miss
3) Shave BEFORE you go

Advice please...

This is so hard, and it takes aaages. I really need to up the ante here, although I’ve been hitting the gym hard. I am fitter than I used to be, I’ve trained up to run 10km and did it in an hour and four minutes, so that’s an indicator of being in reasonably good form. But how do I actually visually shape up??

I’m doing a mixture of running, weights & crunches and zumba, 3-4 times a week. Foodwise I think I should be eating more fruit & veg. I’v’e been ok with reducing the sweet stuff, I’m not going completely overboard but I’m not depriving myself of it either. I guess I just have to keep at it… any advice anyone?

Get a kick ass job

Had a good interview today… we’ll see what happens. Fingers crossed! :)

Finished the challenge – I didn’t win but it actually DID make me eat more fruit and veg. So everyone’s a winner…ah how beautiful. Before I can mark this off as done though I need to send in the sheet to innocent. I would absolutely LOVE to win a month’s supply of smoothies & vegpots! :)

write my dissertation
Really need to get a move on!

Obviously an ongoing task… but right now is good :)

Study hard and get good grades (read all 3 entries…)
The final push

Right, I need to get my a** into gear. I need to write my dissertation, and that counts as studying hard to get good grades, I think. So this is what I’ll do: tomorrow, I will spend one solid hour writing my introduction. I will write something, anything to get me into the swing of things. If it’s no good it can be changed. But I need to break into this!

Bring it on!

Not long to go now. I’ve ran 9.3k on the weekend in 1h 8m. I can’t believe this training business actually works!! I was so scared a couple of weeks ago that I wouldn’t be able to do this, but now I’m ready for it. Bring it on!!

The challenge is on!

The drive for five challenge is posed by Innocent, you know, the smoothie people. You have to get 3 friends to record how many portions of fruit and veg they have every day for 7 days. The one with the most portions wins! And then you can send in the sheet and win a month’s supply of smoothies and vegpots, which would be pretty sweet. So today was the first day, and I had 6 portions of fruit and veg – very happy with that as I’m in the lead :) Good to have “healthy competition”...

One more sleep

Tomorrow is the night! I’ve prepared the ingredients for the homemade face scrub and masks, Martini is lined up and I’m excited. How I love it when a plan comes together :)

My friend’s got us tickets!!! WOOOOOOHOOOOO!!!! :D
I’ve never really been to any festival before, at least not properly, and I’m so excited because with this one it’s about music that
I’m actually into. I’m really looking forward to it! Well chuffed…

Invites are out!

There will be a clothes, shoes and perfume swap, homemade facemasks and body scrubs by the tub, Martini Bianco on the rocks and maybe a chick flick. Good times I hope for a good cause! :)

6.5 - Two thirds

Ran 6.5k nonstop today. Time wasn’t amazing (58 minutes), but hey, I think it’s the best I’ve ever done so far! :)

Did a practice run of 5k, so half the target, on the treadmill with my friend yesterday who is also taking part. I’m very proud of myself because I don’t think I’ve ever run 5k without slowing down for a rest-walk. It’s great to have her with me, she’s run a half-marathon before so she knows how to train yourself up. And it was really good to do it side by side on the treadmill, because she didn’t stop, and so, in a way, I couldn’t either. And that was fine, because we were each doing it in our pace.

I need to dedicate myself to the fundraising side of it this week, write an email to people and organise an event. I’m planning a girlie fundraising night with homemade face masks and a clothes swap shop, and I’ll bring mini muffins or something similar into work and will put them on display in the staff kitchen with an honesty box.

This is a great project. I’m loving every aspect of it!

Watch one European or classic film a month (read all 7 entries…)
JUNE: 8 Mile

I know I know this is neither European nor a classic, but it is an independent film and something different, so there.
It was on my list for a long time, I had heard radio reviews of it at the time and thought wow, something really sociocritical. Having watched it now, I am lukewarm about it. I don’t think I’d watch it again in a hurry. I know it was SUPPOSED to be depressing, which it was, but I thought the plot was really slow. That said, it probably gave a good insight into Eminem’s world, and I also admired that he seemed to present a rather honest picture of himself… not much glorification. Anwyay, glad I watched it, struck it off the list. Onto new shores & films!
