new place, new people, new opportunities…
I’m at art school now, my long-time dream. now it’s about making the most of it. working hard. seizing the day.

I’m at art school now, my long-time dream. now it’s about making the most of it. working hard. seizing the day.
but I still can’t manage more than 5 in a row – how disheartening
Have no bike now, but at least I’m running.
So. Goal number 1 worked out – got in to art school! Now I’m concentrating some more on this one. I have a couple of friends who also translate and we have decided to cooperate on this one. We are working on a promotional webside together, those of us who have the same language pairs are proofreading each other’s work and we are trying to help each other find work.
Advertising is the area I most need to focus on at the moment. This is something I have never really been involved with before so I’m finding it quite challenging.
two offers, one rejection.
my two favourites both gave me unconditional offers and i was absolutely delighted. good boost to the ego. the decision was really difficult but eventually i made one, so i’ll be starting in september and am SO looking forward to it!
10kg at least 50 times a day
a few days holiday hiking in the alps with a good friend was wonderful and nicely difficult.
Bought some running shoes about a month ago now and still haven’t used the things.
A wonderful art school, very free thinking, experimental, interdisciplinery, practice orientated, interesting lecturers, good facilities, beautifully situated …
wow!
that the school asked me to bring to the interview. and it is ages since i ever did anything like that and i’m finding it pretty hard.
wow! very scary indeed since it’s in another country. but brilliant and a bit unexpected…
wonderful school in a tiny place…
the interview is in two week’s time

I will actually aim to do this every day for a month or two.
I handed in my portfolio and the next stage is an exam. For those who get through to that stage taht is, but let’s assume I will, so as not to shoot my motivation down dead.
What happens is you get sent out somewhere and they say find something here to draw. Whatever interests you. You have eight hours. The next day is much the same, only you’re meant to paint. And that sounds like straight lines and buildings and perspective to me, things I’m not especially good at.
So. I have made myself a list of motives to draw. I have mainly chosen things that I find difficult in order to challenge myself, give myself some practice and to develop.
Today I went to the park and drew the buildings opposite. Good practice for perspective. I also sketched people sitting on the steps in front of a building.
I have the time today so I’m going to work some more on an art project of my own.
I handed the portfolio in today, along with a hundred other people. I’ve had some problems getting the neccessary paperwork sent from one country to another and if it falls because of that I’ll have to cry. In fact I already did, because it really might.
But for now, I’m relived to have done it and very excited. Whatever happens, I know I’ve worked hard and will continue to.

black ones, acrylic/cotton mix, somewhere between gloves and pulse warmers for a friend for her birthday. but they heáve a half a thumb so that counts in my book. it was the finger-forming business that interested me. looking good already.
application time for the schools I’m trying for starts now.
I’m just trying to get the last couple of pictures finished and am sorting out the presentation. Have bought myself some pale grey passepartout card to back all the pieces with. Fairly neutral but neither black or white and draws the different styles together a bit. Written some short texts about the work to go along side it. Written a personal statement and have my references and certificates all bagged up.
Same lady who looked through it the first time offered to take a glance at the final thing and I do hope she’s positive about it..
I’m feeling generally more positive about the whole thing.
