Well, in spite of a few tricky circumstances, I’ve been able to get wet a couple times this summer. Even with my wife once: we were checking out a possible apartment to buy, and it was a hot day, and there’s a small river nearby. So we walked through the forest to the river, and got to a steep, grassy bank, with an inviting beach on the other side. My wife decided to take off her pants (that’s trousers to you Brits), to my disappointment, and wade across. At least her shirt got a little wet. Me, I ‘had’ to keep my pants on, because I had white underwear on! Good planning on my part. :) Later, we waded around the river, and I found a nice deep spot where I could get my shirt all wet. Ah, it was nice. I take what I can get.

How I did it: At least, I hope this method counts... I'm putting it online! proclamationnovel.blogspot.comBut I'm not happy with the format right now. I'm trying to find time to build a website of my own and republish... while my wife wants me to repaint the perfectly nicely colored walls. : ( Read how I did it…
It seems everyone’s getting in on the act now. Remember when Netscape died? I don’t know how Opera survived, but it’s my wife’s browser of choice. I’m on Firefox, and my parents use Chrome! And don’t forget Safari. Everyone has IE, but we’re almost free of it! Whee!
So here’s the situation facing me this summer (and, really, for at least the next 5 summers):
I now have a child, who has a nanny.
This means no mid-day baths, because I won’t be home alone.
The spouse dislikes my swimming habit, and keeping the clothes on ruins her day.
Pools here have stricter rules than in the US, so even swim trunks are sometimes suspect.
The nearest lake clean enough to swim in is a half-hour drive away from the city.
The spouse could find out what time I come home in the middle of my day by asking the nanny—not out of suspicion, just it’s trickier to lie about my whereabouts.
If I go to a lake to swim, I have to somehow bring in the wet clothes for washing and drying without the nanny knowing… and she’ll know if I’m using the washing machine, of course, which might be mentioned in conversation with the spouse.
Well, if that isn’t an impossible situation, does anyone have some advice?
