I’ve added 2 plums, a peach, an apricot, a cherry, a pomegranate, a pear, a crabapple and an apple tree to my yard this season. Those with the raspberry, blackberries, wild grapes, fig bush, 7 blueberry bushes and asparagus patch I put in last summer will make it a pretty edible landscaping.
With flowerbeds on 3 sides of the house, I am satisfied with the function and attractiveness of the yard. It all makes me happy.
Now, I am down to playing with annuals and maintaining what I’ve done.

Got the roses
Went into Lowe’s Home Improvement about a month ago and found that they had a recent shipment of roses in bags, not pots, not quite bare root, for only $4 each. I got 7 in various colors and put them along one fence. White with pink tinged edges, lavender, pink, Peace, yellow, had a gap, one called Pinata that looks orange and red and then a red one. A couple of weeks later I found one that starts with yellow buds that shade to bright orange for the gap.
So, I have a rainbow going along my fence, assuming they all thrive.

The seated picture of my back with the first 3 has inspired me to get in better shape, too. :-)
