My sisters got me a 5 month Netflix subscription for my birthday. My husband and I have been REALLY getting a lot out of it. In the last several months we’ve watched several terrific movies: “Pieces of April”, “You Can Count on Me”, “The Visitor”, “Gone Baby Gone”, “Lars and the Real Girl”. Also saw “Love, Actually” with the in-laws the night after Christmas. We just got “Sideways” and “Two Family House.” And, in the theatre, the mesmerizing, stick-with-you “Slumdog Millionaire.” I spent a lovely afternoon last weekend populating the queue with a ton of movies I’m looking forward to, from “A Mighty Heart” and “Sicko” to “Casablanca” and “Rashomon”. Really looking forward to increased viewing.
On the live play front, we saw “August: Osage County” (a discounted ticket, believe it or not, through a subscription service, for a terrific seat in the orchestra!). Saw Estelle Parsons blast through that fantastic role & Johanna Day, who I always enjoyed since seeing her in “Proof”. Some thrilling moments.
We are seeing my friend Chris’ show in the West Village tomorrow night, and we have a gift certificate to Broadway.com to use from our wedding. More viewing reports to come! Happy New Year!
