I’ve just discovered the works of Michael Phillips. He has a book on Holistic Orcharding that I am going to get myself for Christmas. I’m so glad I discovered this while still in the planning stages of my future orchard! Hoping to become a land owner in 2014!
Paid off my fines – which is ridiculous, because I could have renewed my books online and not had to pay. Oh, well, paid my $5 and got my card out of hock… Checked out some more books. Put the due date in my calendar this time!
20 minutes in the crip, autumn air.
But I am rapidly getting burnt out. I have an awesome boss, but I think we are in a no-win situation.
After having this goal for over 5 years, it looks like I’m the only one writing about this goal? C’mon all you people heading down this journey – what are you doing to move you closer to accomplishing this goal?
Have one of those big, tall air mattresses. Fixed it up with a blanket beneath the bottom sheet, so hopefully it won’t be too cold or plastic-y feeling. Organized my (empty for the season) plan racks. Put away stuff from the floor. So, I won’t be totally embarrassed when my friend visits. She knows I’m really messy, and she doesn’t care, but I know she likes to live a little neater than me. :)
Especially if they like canned pasta sauce, pasta, pancakes (oops, need more syrup), shelf stable soy milk, home made tortillas, water, and – yes, the all important coffee – real coffee that can be made by dripping hot water through filters. I’m not a coffee drinker, but to preserve sanity in the household, I have planned to provide that critical beverage for my wonderful husband. :) Working up to 30 days worth. Neighbors are nice, but they are not the kind to “put such things by.”
It isn’t “awesome” yet – but looks sooooo much better! Washing linens and taking a break and then another 20 min rock out to the music and clean.
So awesome to not have to worry about remembering to take pills any more! Major Yayness!
Yeah, baby, yeah ~ keep exercising! That seems to be the key for me! Even one day of walking (slowly, even), for a bit more than 20 minutes, and it shows!
For around $100K, looks like we can get 4 or 5 acres and a house from the 1960’s… the plan is slowly forming in our brains! 14 more Jeep payments and we will be very nearly debt free. Our income to debt ratio will be awesome and our credit will be moving back up. Yay!

Summer is over, and I think today was the last one for the season. Will miss the farmer’s market – it is a tie to the land that I really need right now.

Interesting things happening at work, and I may end up climbing the corporate ladder faster than anticipated. Going to take a lot of hard work, though. Good thing I am not afraid of hard work!
Hubby and I took the long way to the recycle/garbage transfer station today – enjoyed seeing the autumn tree colors and cows in their pastures. I could feel his heart aching for a piece of land as much as mine is. It still was a good and beautiful ride, though, and it strengthened our resolve.
They are about $6 – $10 bucks. After I have a few, I will donate them.
