Ran my first race ever on Sunday, Oct. 29, 2006 (my 12th anniversary)! In 39:43 - kind of a sad time, but I walked several times. That’s OK - someday I will look back at this humble beginning and smile … :-)

This time with a GOAL! I’ve never been good at it, but I do feel good when I run. I’m not getting any younger, though, so I have started out pretty easy: with the the Couch-to-5K Plan (www.coolrunning.com) and Jeff Galloway’s run/walk plan. I could probably do a 5K now, so I guess I should just find one and sign up, huh??
My mom gave me lessons one year for my birthday, and I spent a summer learning with a Russian instructor (Alex, I think his name was) who also coached at American University. I was really surprised I did it; I’ve never been one for any sport, really, much less one where people might see me or I have to compete. But I loved it! And talk about a workout … thank god for spinning class or my thighs would’ve turned to jello after the first hour! I would really love to get back into it, and advance my practice to competition at least, and perhaps epee.
