finish decorating my apartment (read all 2 entries…)
new bed! 6 months ago

I finally got a grown-up bed (haha) with a frame and a headboard. although it takes up way more space in my room, I can put things under it! yay!
I got so excited about my bedroom’s re-vamp, I posted it here in saucy dwellings on livejournal.
I basically just need to tackle the living/dining room & make it more functional, pretty it up a bit, and I will be done!

I posted today for the first time in four months! summer dresses and sandals and shorts are making me feel good. yay warm weather!
next step: wear my dresses more, with scarves, and maybe try to find some new tops to wear with shorts.

again... 6 months ago

time to do this… again! Even though I gave away a bunch of sweaters, t-shirts, and some other stuff, my closet is bursting again. I have not even bought anything new! how did this happen!?

I’ve heard that most people wear 20% of their wardrobe, 80% of the time, and this seems to be true for me.

I need to take a closer look at my pants and skirts— there are way too many in the drawer and I am only wearing a few of them.

time to really do this.
I’ve already got a pile going, my sweater drawer is bursting and needs attention. there are a few sweaters I didn’t wear once all winter, those have to go for sure.

so. this sounds stupid but I am allowing myself to bite the right-hand side of my mouth, while letting the left side heal. I’ve been rinsing with salt water every day to speed this up. one week and going strong!

I think what I really mean by this, is to have the guts to break out of my rut, stop wearing the same things over and over every day, and have the guts to wear the nice clothes that I already have, and mix them into new combinations. I did a classic sweater-and-collared shirt today, and an oversized cardigan with stripes and orange tights yesterday. maybe I should get my wardrobe remix going again?

I really need to do this by the end of april. I want something good to come up if people google me after seeing my work in our grad show.

I need to actually schedule a time to do this— I can’t keep waiting until it’s convenient or something drops into my lap.
I usually phone my mum on sunday mornings.. maybe if I get up 1/2 hour earlier before she calls, I’ll have time to write some quick notes to my best friends..

feeling lonely in my city; feeling like I don’t have any friends. this is the year I’m going to be comfortable doing my own thing, socializing when I feel like it, and not dating people for validation.

long distance isn’t that expensive, but somehow I prefer sending lettermail. I’m hoping to get replies to the things I sent a while ago, before I go home for winter break.

today I hung hooks on the wall for coats, and got a basket to throw all my hats and mittens and scarves in near the door of my apartment.
it rules because one of the worst things about my last place was that was no place to put coats, bags, shoes, etc when you come in the door. just in time for snowy weather too!

today I mailed the postcards I wrote for my 4 closest girlfriends. it’s really hard not being in the same city as any of them.. so I always want to remind them how much I miss them and am looking forward to seeing them.

also, my mum is coming to visit this weekend.. so pretty excited about that!

today I am going to the pool after class with one of my classmates. excited!

I can barely find time in my day to spend 10 minutes having a meal; it’s ridiculous. end-of-term crunch time isn’t the best time of the year to hold myself to this goal we’ll see how it goes at christmas.

3 weeks running! 13 months ago

yesterday’s visit marked my third week in a row— and it felt really good. I’m also in the habit of a little jog first, which I’m confident I can keep up! and, I didn’t even feel sore this morning like I usually have after swimming.
