I have been reading this nice book by Jhumpa Lahiri “Interpreter of Maladies” who is also the author of “The Namesake”. The movie based on this book is going to come out in theaters later this year. (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0433416/trailers-screenplay-E27934-10-2)
I look forward to seeing it, as I like Kal Penn a lot. He is a young comedian actor but evidently has more potential than that. It’s also funny how in this movie he is embarrassed by his name “Gogol” which is a name for one of the most popular writers in Russia. Funny.
I came to the conclusion that I like people who never stop learning. When you meet somebody whose educational involvement ended with four/six years of college, after a while such relationship becomes boring and even corrupt (yes, yes). But when somebody has an ongoing interest in education, like in a preferred aspect of life such as science, religion, literature, or simply becoming nicer to people (which takes a lifetime effort) IT IS AWESOME! For some reason I like people who have a passion. This person can simply be – hardworking – whatever work he/she does, and that is a virtue on its own. Or somebody can be an excellent cook and treat his/her family to amazing meals all the time. I guess the point is investing yourself somehow. I think that ALL people have some kind of virtue given to them by God. There’s just too many obstacles to realize you have one, and then to actually apply it. Obstacles like being financially limited or having emotional problems, low self-esteem, laziness, depression, and pressure from the society to do whatever is considered “normal”.
