start my career
I took the plunge 22 months ago

I have always wanted to become a flight attendant, and last August, I took the plunge and I accomplished my goal!

It was a long, tough process. I was lucky enough to be hired upon my first interview, and also to pass the rigorous 6 weeks of training. I work for an airline that is union represented, and I am so grateful for its benefits.

To anyone that is holding on to their dreams, I urge you to consider the consequences of not living them!

this CAN'T be good.... 2 years ago

Has anyone experienced this before?

I just brushed my teeth and it was very painful on my gums. I looked in my mouth, and my gums are a silvery/ivory color behind 3 of my bottom front teeth!

I am kind of freaking out… could this be from the acids in the lemons? I don’t have dental insurance and i’m worried that this could be bad. I have been drinking the SWF out of straws, but not the LA.

I’m on day 5, nervous if this continues though…

Day 4... almost half way there 2 years ago

I don’t so much mind the cleanse, and i haven’t cheated because uh…. what’s the point in doing the cleanse just to cheat, right?

But to be honest, I don’t know if i’m getting the benefits of the cleanse that everyone else talks about. I have done everything by the book… SWF in the morning (siiiick), 8 glasses of LA and even more purified water… and the senna tea before bed. I’m definately eliminating after the SWF for an hour or so, all liquid…

...but i don’t know if it’s because I was fine to begin with or what but I don’t have the ‘glowing skin’ or ‘super energy’ or ‘major detoxes’ or anything! If nothing else i just feel a little bloated from all the liquid and I can’t stop craving and thinking about food.

I know I should try to be in a better mental state, and think positive thoughts, but i’m finding that to be the hardest part. Starting tonight i’ll be pet-sitting for FOUR different friends (3 dogs and one cat) for the next 10 days, so maybe that will keep my mind off things. I am dreading the weekend, because I will want to go out with my boyfriend and our friends for brunch like we do EVERY weekend… waaaah.

Sorry i’m such a sob story today, it’s been a rough week. I know i’m almost over the halfway point, and I try to just keep that in mind. I love SMELLING food when it’s around me, it helps with the cravings. So i guess i’ll just keep that up, maybe get a massage on Monday, that might do some good.

GOOD LUCK everyone. Hope you’re feeling better than I am!!!

go rock climbing
a beautiful feeling 2 years ago

The sense of challenge and accomplishment you feel when you are rock climbing is like no other feeling in the world.
I lost a great friend on Sunday, he was an excellent climber and all around nature boy. He was backpacking and fell 200ft. to his death on Easter Sunday looking for ice holes for fishing.

A word of caution to those who climb:

Please make sure you are safe. I suggest a lot of indoor practice, and even taking classes. It is a very invigorating sport, one of the best there is. But it is very dangerous, no matter how experienced you are. Still, please take proper precautions, and learn all proper knot techniques and have appropriate gear before you take on such an incredible challenge.

Good luck and happy climbing!!!

day 3... trying to cope 2 years ago

i have been doing fine on my cleanse. I haven’t been hungry at all, just a few cravings but I can tell the difference, and that makes it easier. I wish I was farther along, one whole week to go seems like a long time.

Last night I went out to a bar for my friends’ birthday party, and was informed a friend of mine had passed away in a mountain climbing incident, and his body had just been found. It made me sad, and more than anything it made me want to DRINK.
Fortunately, my boyfriend was with me, and quickly got me out of that environment and put me to bed.

Today is a new day, and I can’t let the overwhelming sadness affect the decisions i’ve made for myself. I’ll stick with it.

I’m so excited!

I’ve spent the past 10 days preparing for these upcoming 10 days! Today was my official start date of my Master Cleanse. I’ve read Peter Glickman’s book and spent last week scaling down my meals to one per day, and high protein. (The only meat I eat is fish, so lots of fresh tuna, salmon and tofu—not fried!)

Yesterday I threw a dinner party for about 15 friends that was mostly vegan, raw, healthy and delicious, I just wish my boyfriend or roommate would eat up all these leftovers!!!

So today i’m not craving foods, and i’m not hungry. I like that I spent those 10 days preparing myself for the cleanse mentally and physically. I am on my way to yoga now, let’s losen up those internal organs!!!!!

:) good luck everyone!

take a spinning class
I DID IT!!! 2 years ago

I’ve been intimidated by this class for years and finally 2 friends that had never taken the class either said they’d take it with me!

It wasn’t as bad as i’d built it up to be in my mind. The first 15 minutes were really hard, and I thought there was no way I would make it through all 60. But after the first half-hour I was determined and it hurt very little. I am glad we all did a great deal of stretching after the class was through to keep our muscles from stiffening up.

I enjoyed the challenge, and the class went by much quicker than I thought it would! Afterward, I went straight to work (I have a job where I stand on my feet all day) and it wasn’t too painful, it just felt like I got a really intense physical workout…duh!

I plan on going back every week with my girlfriends!

  • Donate to at least one charity on my list
  • Start the Master Cleanse a week from today!

Quit Smoking (read all 2 entries…)
RJ Reynolds 2 years ago

This may sound like a strange way to quit smoking but it worked for me….

I was driving past one of those billboards last summer that read SMOKING IS ADDICTIVE as to prevent non-smokers from starting. At that very moment, I was overcome with anger….

...what I figured out at that moment was just how clever and manipulative cigarette companies really are! The strategic wording of that banner was also basically telling smokers “you’re addicted! you can’t quit! haaa! hahaha!”

I felt that way because I know that one of the biggest excuses a smoker uses for NOT quitting is “oh i’m addicted, I can’t quit it’s too hard because i’m addicted…”

You just need to know that not all of the addiction is chemical. You have to recognize that you are the one putting that cigarette up to your lips, giving yourself every excuse in the book to let yourself be victim to smoking.

As soon as you break that mental connection, you can learn to curb the physical addiction, and every day that you go without a cigarette, the closer you are to breaking the habit.

GOOD LUCK to everyone.
Don’t be the victim….

exercise everyday
spinning 2 years ago

i do a pretty good job of getting moderate exercise everyday. I live in the city and I don’t drive, so that in itself puts me at walking a few miles everyday. I bartend for a living too, and that keeps me moving all night long.

I usually make it to the gym about 2 times per week (it’s a goal to go more) and everytime I go, I walk past the spinning class…

..my question for everyone is how in the hell am I ever going to have the courage to take spinning classes!? it’s so intimidating…

any pointers for a first timer???

pre-cleanse 2 years ago

I am starting my first Master Cleanse next Monday! I am spending the next 8 days preparing myself for my cleanse by scaling down my meal sizes so that my body doesn’t go into complete shock on the first couple of days.

Good luck to all of you already cleansing!

the journey begins 2 years ago

I am crossing my fingers that I am selected as an egg donor for a family that wants to concieve a child. I have already filled out my paper work, and discovered that I don’t have any recent pictures of myself to send in with my package!

I guess I should add that to one of my 43 things…. take more pictures of myself!
