Not sure that I absolutely want this yet, but if I get one it will be a simple outline of a dove with the phrase “Spiritus Vitae” underneath it (which is latin for Breath of Life) likely in a dark brown ink just over my righ shoulder blade.
The dove symbolizes hope, purity, simplicity and the Holy Spirit to me, it is a reminder that God is real and alive in me.
Breath of Life has significance because it reminds me of the whole concept of “spiritual breathing”, expelling that which is toxic and breathing in what is life giving in a spiritual sense, so surrendering and giving up the things that are hindering me in order to replace them with things that will build me up.
Also, it reminds me that God has breathed his life into each one and it is only by him that each of us exists.
Finally it has significance as I have cystic fibrosis and encounter many difficulties with my repiratory system, some days breathing is a real challenge. So I suppose the reality that God’s breath of life is always in me and that He alone can heal me of this disease is an important thing for me to be reminded of as it brings hope (again, the dove). So that’s my reasoning behind it…now I need to save up and get it done.
Probably won’t happen for awhile, though if I have my way and end up with a musician perhaps some day…wishful thinking? maybe not
