I can’t believe 20 years have gone by and I’m still not editor of Ski magazine or president of Nature Conservancy. Maybe if I quit changing my mind about what I want to be when I grow up and actually focus on something I could achieve it! Still living in Bar Harbor (www.barharbor.com) on Mount Desert Island, Maine, same as 10 years ago. No need to go elsewhere because this place is the bomb.
George Dickson (WHS ’85) and I have been married for almost 14 years now. We’re DINKS so we spend our $ on stuff like traveling, hiking boots, expensive UVB light bulbs for our iguana, 10-year old tawny port and investing in mutual funds. Damn, that sounded kind of pretentious. Move over, Kent.
I’ve temporarily left the field of environmental fundraising to return to journalism – I’m assistant editor of the Mount Desert Islander newspaper. (Notice I said “temporarily” – what I lack in dedication I make up for in knowing myself.)
George and I are contemplating opening a distillery. Our vanilla vodka, whiskey and gin are actually quite good. When I’m drinking a homemade martini, I like to listen to Maktub (www.maktub.com)—if Dan isn’t going to plug his band, I will. What would it take to get them to Anchorage in August?
I am really looking forward to seeing everyone, especially people I didn’t see at the last reunion, like Mr. Spils, Reggie Norsworthy, Dominador Gobaleza, Tonya Shemel, etc.
I don’t care about seeing Kendra Guffey or Jennifer Moorhead because I see them every year anyway, most recently wine tasting in Sonoma/Napa. I visit Bekki (Stewart) Buenviaje every so often and just saw her and Charol in San Anselmo. Looking forward to meeting all of Renate Zelenka’s kids – hope they are as warped as we were in high school!
