I was introduced to Nordstrom Rack over the weekend, and I patiently waded through several racks of completely unorganized merchandise to unearth four perfectly cute tops for a new me. The total cost was around $70 . . . the cost of a cheap pair of jeans! Not sure if NR is my game, but if I can shop here, baby, I can shop anywhere.

I took a week off work, so I had time to bake two cakes and make frosting from scratch. The cream-cheese frosting is marvelous, but I regret making the cakes (one lemon, one carrot) from mixes. Actually, if I have time to bake at all, I’d like to focus on pies, since that was my specialty while in college. Mmm, peach pie . . . Plus, my crust rocked—and it’s all about the crust.
I’m so excited to be taking piano lessons next week. When my sisters and I were 9-12 years old, we begged for piano lessons. (I understand this is unusual.) Long story short, we had lessons for a few years, but between forced recitals and our mother’s headaches from our constant playing (like I said, unusual), we abandoned the piano, and I’ve felt forlorn ever since. Now, I am making time to make my childhood dream come true. I’m also taking classes in music theory to fill in the blanks (because we were only taught how to play, not what it all meant). I love adulthood.
