I’m learning Mandarin now and Indonesian was a breeze compared to this!....
The hardest thing bout learning indo is learning all the slang… well, in Jakarta, anyway… I spent two years learning indo from coursebooks before I moved over there and everyone laughed at my indo when i got there! I asked why they were laughing and was told, ‘you sound like a newspaper’.... big difference between colloqial and formal language….
But you just keep practising and pick it up aftr a while.. ahve fun with it!

I’m gunna ge filthy rich just for the hell of it. Dont want much really, just a big farm and to buy a place for my mum. But wouldn’t it be cool to get filthy rich just for the challenge of it, to show yourself you can. And also it wouldnt hurt to give huge amounts of money to where it should be going- redistribute a portion of the world’s funds to more needy parties or something along those lines…..

I have two tattoos, both of which I got in my late teens. I just dont think getting a tatoo is orth it. For one, as you go through your life, your ideas, values, and priorites change, but a tattoo sticks with you forever. The tattoo that is ‘you’ now might not be you in 10 or 20 years time. And you never know where life is gunna take you- you never end up where you think you’re going to be, so you cant know how a tattoo is gunna affect your future. I got my first tattoo as a 16 year old hippy chick who wanted to save the forests and live in a teepee. Turns out I’m a city dwelling primary school teacher! Maybe I was just too young, but I still dont think you can stick a permanant obejct (tattoo) onto a changing one (life and the body that takes you through it) and expect them to be a perfect pair.

It’s very easy to get stuck here. It’s all fun and games for a few years when your’e young, but Jakarta is totally a less than ideal place to live in when you’re married with kids. Guess it depends on your priorities, but if your not into image, money, crowds, living it up, and all the other lovely shallow things in life, then you probably wont last here for long.
Been here for 5 years now and have decide to leave in 3 months. I find that although Indonesia has done a lot for me, my time spent in Jakarta has made me an overall more cynical, negative unfriendly person. Living here has made me appreciate what a beautiful country I come from… Aussie ausssie, oi, oi!!! See you soon….

I wanna learn 4 langauges. would prefer 5, but I think that’s too many. Better to focus on quality rather than quantity, right?
Anyway, I can speak Indonesian and Englsih, am learning German at the moment, and havent decided on the other one yet. Spanish? Hindi? Any suggestions?

I quit smoking when I found out I was pregnant. This was about 13 months ago. I feel so much healthier- I can BREEAAATHE! But one thing- you will never actually get over it completely. When I see people light up, I somtimes think, ‘ooooh, that would be nice’..... But never give in- just one itsy bitsy cigarette is enough to make you start all over again…. beware.
