i finally got my first tattoo back in october, and i’m just now checking it off of my list and writing about it. it’s a favorite passage of mine from jeremiah, and it’s on my left forearm. it didn’t even really hurt!

i workfor a vet, and we offer boarding services. there was one dog, a pug (a breed about which i am very passionate), who came in fairly often because her owner was elderly and in and out of a nursing home. she died a couple of weeks ago and the executor of her will offered me the dog (whom i love dearly!). so…i technically inherited my portobella (bella for short), but i consider her adopted. she’s a 5 year old fawn pug, and overweight, but we’re working on that. :) i have to say, she is already hopelessly devoted to me. she follows me around, sits at my feet, and if i go in a room and close the door, she’ll lay down in front of the door and not get up until i come back out. my only warning is that pugs are NOT easy to train! it takes a lot of patience and learning your own dog’s personality and how he or she responds to certain styles of training.
on the whole? having a pug is VERY rewarding, and knowing that another home may not have been very good for her, i am happy knowing she’s in the best home for her now. mine!
i know i read at least a book a day now, but they’re all books that are too easy, and that i’ve read a million times before. i want to read a new/semi-new book each week that’s on my level. also, i’m going back to school soon, and last time i was taking classes i stopped reading almost altogether, and i think if i challenge myself with this goal, i can keep up my reading while still taking classes this time. wish me luck! my first book is going to be “At Home in Mitford” by Jan Karon. then i’m going to proceed through the other 7 books in that series. but for now…the first one. :)
