I’ve been learning french for over 5 years now and am still nowhere near fluent! I need to be able to think on the spot, and just come out with it, otherwise I’m going to embarrass myself when I go to france for work experience in February!
I need to know useful French, unlike the stuff they taught me for the first 5 years at school. Nobody in France will want to talk to me about “Qu’est-ce tu pense de l’école?” “Quelle est ta matière préférée?” ou “Est-ce je peux emprunter ta règle?”
I’m reading the french Harry Potter books at the moment, which is really helpful, and much more enjoyable than reading a textbook. And now that I’m learning French at A-Level, I’ll hopefully be taught some vocabulary that’s a bit more useful in everyday life!
Bonne chance tout le monde! :)
I don’t know exactly how it’s happened, but I’ve noticed that I’m more confident than I’ve ever been. I’m still not over-confident, I don’t think I ever will be! But still, I’m a lot happier. Good luck to everyone else!
