I decided to loc my hair July 6th 2008 for various reasons I live in the pacific northwest and having natural straight here was a no no because as soon as I spent my $65.00 on my bi weekly press and flat iron as soon as I left the shop my hair puffed out like a 8 inch afro.So I said no more money down the drain I was going to do something that was cost affective and rather stylish so I locked my hair up.It took a couple of hours but it was well worth it.I sectioned my hair into small boxes and used bee’s wax to start each loc.Starting at the root working down to the tips. Its a very long process will make your arms tired but as long as you have a snack and a t.v,ipod mp3 player to keep your focused on your hair you will be fine lol.To be honest the first year your hair is in a very weird state its not locked totally but not straight/curly frizzy whatever your hair was like prior to dreading it.So when you shampoo your locks put a stocking cap on to help prevent unraveling.Using small clips to keep your parts and dreads seperate help while twisting your locs(the method used to maintain your hair)Using quality products also play a factor in having nice dreads unscented shampoo’s work best because I use lightly scented hair products such as bee’s wax rarely if my hair is looking dull and dry or I use jamican mango lime products which are great to help you maintain your hair daily such as their loc a shine their hair incence and firm twisting wax.

Hello all im new to the site and im very happy with it thus far I was looking for a place to express my feelings and thoughts about various topics.Well like a bunch of you all I am wanting to join the navy as well my biggest thing is getting over the slight phobia of signing my name to a contract and following through.Dont get me wrong I have worked since I was 13 years old so im not afraid of hard work but knowing that I am not my own boss is kinda fun and scary at the same time. The things I like knowing that I will have job security because have you ever heard of the military going bankrupt or outta business lol.Well I plan to track my progress on here and if anybody has any advice or ideas that can help I am open to listen and soak it all in.Plus coming from a long family full of armyy and marines I wanted to think outside the box and go into a different branch.
