The best thing to do is start looking at recipes. If you like the ingredients, you’re sure to like the outcome.
Don’t buy cookbooks… at least not yet. Try recipe sites such as:
and my favorite (hubby and i eat vegan/vegetarian meals):
Veg Web
Follow the instructions closely to see if you like to make that dish. Once you’re comfortable making it, you can try variations.
Go for easy stuff first – soups, cakes (easier than you think), cookies, and sandwiches. Once you get the hang of following the recipe, you’ll be able to make all sorts of things!
I was taught to cook when i was young (4th – 5th grade), made pasta with ground beef and sauce, tv diners (hee hee), pancakes, eggs, bacon, and all the easy stuff you just mix together and cook. It helped me a lot because i learned how to follow directions and cook things properly (size of the flame – stove; temp of the oven, power of microwave, etc).
Eggs were also a big help because i learned about how different spices mixed together when cooked (it provided a good medium to mix the flavors. for the veggies out there, tofu is good too!).
Hope you all do well! Cooking is fun and worth it when your guests/family/friends smile at what you’ve created!
