About a year I started a photo blog http://look-thing.blogtog.com/ and have enjoyed more than any creative act in a long long time. Throughout my twenties I was an artist and showed in small galleries in Japan. But around the time I turned 30 I decided to make a living in design and switched my creative energy towards making corporate websites. Well, it has and still is great fun but designing for others just isn’t the same as making art for yourself. So when I started taking photos and posting them on the blog, it was a return to my old self. Now almost 500 posted photos later, with a new job and new things to learn I struggle to get the time and mind space to take as many pictures as I’d like. Also the naivity and excitement of one year has worn off a bit. So I now need to make myself take out the digital SLR. But when I do I love it so much.
It’s my goal to ride to work 3-4 days a week. It’s 45 minutes each way if I ride fast which I do so I feel it’s a good enough workout. I really feel great on the days I ride. I actually bought a fairly decent Specialized hybrid and have been inspired by how beautifully it rides. I found a beautiful green trail to ride most of the way to avoid the Tokyo traffic. The only difficulty is the rainy season which is coming up soon in June. I love to ride!
