Finally ready

$100 for this beautiful blue acoustic guitar at a pawn shop. A dive of a pawn shop, of all places, and there it was sitting in the window display, calling me. So another one of my ambitions is being put to the test. And I’m looking forward to it. As I write this the fingers of my left hand are already sore at the tips. I think it’s a good thing. At least I’m practicing. I’m teaching myself. The way I’ve always needed to do things. My own trial and error, frustration and accomplishment. We’ll see where it leads me.

Get a tattoo
It has to mean something.

My only tattoo, done by my brother-in-law, is of an Egyptian ankh with the wings of Isis around it. It has special meaning for me. I think a tattoo only makes sense if it has some sort of meaning behind it. You carry it for the rest of your life. I think it’s worth doing, and as my brother-in-law says, “without pain we have nothing.”

learn to play piano
Getting started.

So I’ve had the piano for a little while, thanks to my wonderful significant other. (He set it all up for me while I was sleeping and sick, and surprised me with it, the sweetheart!) It’s been sitting there, staring at me, waiting for me to take it up again. I’ve almost been afraid of it… something new… something challenging. Today I finally picked up a basic piano book and I’m ready to attempt it. Still a little intimidated. But why should I be? I’ve always been very good at teaching myself new skills, and I’ve always been very creative. I’m sure it’ll be satisfying, frustrating at times, but a good outlet for me.
