Well, that was a disaster. My knees starting acting up on me almost from the start … I ran for 3 km only, after that I had to do a run/walk switchoff. So I finished (in huge pain) but not in any time that’s worth mentioning.
Next year I’ll have better shoes and will have done much more strength training to offset my IT band problems, so hopefully this will be something fixable. I’d love to do next year’s run in under 1 hour.
I don’t want to go overboard on this and do the 100-mile diet (though I have nothing but admiration for those that do), I just want to pay more attention to what I buy and support local growers when I have a choice. Will also eat more organic if it’s not too damn expensive.
