pay off my credit cards (read all 31 entries…)
9 months 5 months ago

Yes, I still have debt after 2 years. It’s all down to the Premiere Miles card now and I hope to clear it soon. At the rate I’m going, if I pay as I’m paying now and not use this card anymore, I will be debt-free in 9 months. I want to think of these 9 months as conceiving and preparing for a whole new life all together. After this, I will cancel my cards and never ever swipe plastic unless I’m buying air tickets.

9 months. Help me focus and reach this goal, dear Universe.

inspiring morning 7 months ago

Yesterday morning, I attended a breakfast session with the bank’s Chief Risk Officer for Asia Pacific—-who happens to be a lady. I was actually having second thoughts attending the session, but it was a good thing I decided to still go because there’s nothing like a successful, smart, empathic and strong woman to inspire me.

She talked about her career and gave us six tips for success—-all of which I really think will be useful. One of the tips she gave was to spend these “junior years” at the firm developing self-awareness, so that you know what you’re good at and what you need to improve. She also adviced that we keep a journal to document the day to day feelinga and emotions that run through you to get a better idea of what you really want to do..

I’m so proud of myself for having the discipline to do the chapters everyday. I would want to take a formal course someday but I just don’t have the time right now.

Today, I had a breakfast session with one of the bank’s senior leaders. She mentioned something about kaizen, a japanese technique about continuous improvement and this was something that really resonated with me—-as this is what I’ve been trying to do with learning Italian. I do a part of a chapter a day, and try to finish a whole chapter each week. Hopefully, by the end of the book, I can really understand, read and write in Italian and I get the opportunity to either work or study in Italy.
