How I did it: Using Mint.com to see track my spending and see where I could cut back. I've been shopping a lot less, packing a lunch a bit more often ( I could be better about this). If I'm tempted to buy something inesssential (like clothes, shoes) I make myself wait a day or two to make sure I still want it. Two websites that have ben helping me keep track of what I’m spending: www.wesabe.com ( which allows you to upload and track your bank and credit accounts in one place) and xpenser.com. Both are free. The coolest part, through www.jott.com, I can call a number, speak the details of a recent purchase into my cell phone (where purchased, amount spent) and it automatically uploads the purchase to my xpenser account.
Definitely worth checking out if you have trouble tracking all the little purchases that add up.
I love my hybrid bike, but all I really use it for is commuting to and from work and friend’s houses. I think it’s time for a road bike. But I also want to be better about budgeting, so this means saving up if I want to buy a new bike.
