How I did it: I have a lot of books - so it took a while to find all the piles and ones hidden in crooks and crannies. I have far flung friends, so while I would chat on the phone, I would pull a box down and get them cataloged -- two birds with one seed! Now that I am pretty well caught up - it's easy to add new titles. Read how I did it…
I grew up in Vermont, and the best thing about the Northern lights is they are a complete surprise. When they come, suddenly phones start ringing and people bundle up & stumble outside.
My best advice is to let lots of people know you want to see the Northern Lights & give them your phone number, with instructions to call ANYTIME! As long as you don’t mind a 2 am call, you should see them before long.
Getting away from the city helps too because there are some that are very subtle.
Going to Alaska might also be good too! I had terrific sightings up there.
There is so much to learn about, while I’m not an expert at it all, this process has been a great way to get our group thinking about Web 2.0 and how it can be used in our library. It’s also helpful to start to understand better how all the Web 2.0 is really a huge shift in how information is shared, so starting to understand that has been exciting.
