I just booked my ticket and I’ll be arriving in Newark at the crack of dawn on 2/26, just in time to wind through the big orange flags in Central Park.

Well, I can’t say that I was there for their entire set…..I left once to use the bathroom at The Garage and then again after The Nick was just way to smokey for my liking and because it was 2:30 in the AM!!!! Apparently I aged 15 years since I saw them last Christmas. But you can’t beat running into random folk from high school who you forgot you liked. And you can’t beat the constant flow of Hoegaarden that B’ham provides.
I definitely need to get in this habit too. comsesAs my Mom says, “I just didn’t raise you that way.” I bought ultra-cute thank you cards last year before the holidays to help motivate me to do this. No dice.
I always hit a wall because I never have anything clever to say in my note when i first receive the present. I stall until I canformulate a creative response, but my memory gives out before inspiration comes. So the card never gets written. I inevitably remember 3 months later, but by that point it just seems too late to do anything.
I need some sort of automated reminder system. I can put the name of a gift and who gave it to me into my computer and I get nagged constantly until I do it.
I want to take full advantage of leaving my job behind for two weeks. No functional design specification! No standards documents!
I want to read for FUN.
- I will not sit on my ass in Alabama and watch On Demand movies with my brother.
- I will not spend the day shopping with my mother and sister at insipid gift shops looking for holiday bargains.
+ I will read.
The only activity which can be substituted for the reading is the drinking.
That means it’s time for…
...the the “B-List Celebrity Sighting in Alabama” game.
...or the “How Long Can I Talk to Someone from High School and Not Reveal That I Don’t Remember Their Name” game.
Fun, fun.
This NW winter darkness is killing me. It’s so dark when my alarm goes off that I just can’t bring myself to get up. My Dream Machine’s snooze button gets hit for 2 hours straight. It’s ridiculous. Every night I go to bed convinced that I can kick this habit, and every morning I get up out of bed no earlier than 8:30.
