...and am getting slightly better at putting things into practice, but I want to make more proper changes in my thinking. It is well worth doing already but I’m not done yet!

How I did it: We have a very small front garden but had space to grow tomatoes and courgettes, and we also grew a few borlotti bean plants. It was enough for one pasta dish but it always made me smile that there were beans growing up the side of my house! Read how I did it…
I’ve written the outline and have shared it online using MS Live Sync with my uncle and dad, who are helping to flesh out the details of things I didn’t know they had done. My dad so far has enjoyed thinking back about stuff and I’m hoping to give more time to loooking at it and keeping it organised.
In the absence of an actual upright, I’m working on some walking bass books, starting from scratch to make sure I learn everything properly. It’s already raising issues with my walking playing (mostly to do with getting lost while reading) and I’ve not got more than 2 lessons in yet, still on the really simple stuff. It’s also been good discipline to try to play something in particular rather than whatever I can get away with at the time – I have to actually know what I’m doing next. It will take some time – but that way I hope that when I get a double bass I will be able to translate that easier rather than having to learn both at the same time…
