the beef bourguignon is now in the oven, so we shall see how it turns out. i followed the recipe from the new joy of cooking (mostly). i restrained myself from adding any tomato paste. i’m pretty sure my dad’s recipe has tomato paste in it. this was my favorite food when i was little. the only thing i don’t have is nice dark brown bread like we got in germany. what kind of bread was it? it wasn’t rye pumpernickel. is there a pumpernickel that isn’t rye? anyway, beef bourguignon e.t.a. = 2hrs.
homemade bread makes everyone happy. now that it isn’t so hot i am going to start trying to do this again.
