At the beginning of my team’s season, we didn’t even deserve to be called a team. Oh, each of us was talented alright. And that was just the problem. We thought that we were really “something” and that we deserved to be the star of the basketball team. When our coach talked about “the state tournament”, we knew deep in our hearts that we were not going. We hated to admit it but we were selfish players.
To make a long story short, in the last month or two of our season, we REALLY started to click, just as a true team should. We beat a bunch of teams that had defeated us earlier in the season. And we won sub-sections and sections, and made it to the state tournament. We got to play at the TARGET CENTER (home of Kevin Garnet). In the end, we truly grew as people, team members, friends, and sisters. I will never forget the experience. It was totally worth every sweat dripping hour of practice that we had endured.
