I was a little nervous about getting this done, but the pain really wasn’t too bad- I’ve been told that they tend to hurt more for guys than for girls and the more you enjoy your nipples being played with, the less the piercing tends to hurt. It’s definitely worth getting done. I’ve been thinking about either gauging them to increase sensitivity or getting them pierced vertically as well.

Definitely worth doing- it’s so cute! For those of you who are worried about pain, it really isn’t too bad. Because of its proximity to your eyes, the eye nearest to the piercing is going to water and make it feel worse than it is. The pain is only there for an instant, so don’t worry!
I loved the look of cartilage piercings and finally decided to get one done about two years ago. I, however, did not do my homework when it came to getting it pierced, and went to Claire’s, where they proceeded to pierce it with a gun.
I can’t describe how much the piercing hurt. It was a throbbing, burning pain that radiated throughout my ears for days. Like others, I developed bumps around the piercing and infections, even though I took care of it. I took it out around a year later because I couldn’t deal with not ever being able to put any pressure on it (if I did, pain would shoot through my ear). Even now, two years later, it still isn’t fully healed.
During that time, I learned from a friend of mine that cartilage piercings should be done with a hollow needle and should not be done with a gun. Basically, the point of my entry is to tell you to make sure that you go to an actual piercing place to get it done properly. Even with all the trouble I had with mine, I think that this is still worth doing and am planning on getting it done again soon.
UPDATE: I ended up getting it pierced again a few days ago. As for pain, within an hour I couldn’t feel it anymore and when I woke up, I was sleeping on the side of the piercing and couldn’t feel a thing.
