I decided how Im going to start paying off that one loan. When I arrive back in the States, I will start payments of about 45 dollars/month (thats how much my cell phone bill is… and if I can pay for a cell phone I should be paying off my loan as well).. Problem is that one of my other goals is to create a 6-month emergency fund… I dont know how these two are going to be too compatible

How I did it: I went abroad with my university.. Im actually currently still in France, living in the NW of France. Signed up for a programme and was accepted. Its very strange adapting to the new culture and attempting to speak some sort of french... its quite slow here because the french like to take their time with everything. Read how I did it…
How I did it: Hard to say how long it took me. I am a CODA (meaning my parents are deaf) so ASL is my first language!!! So I have been using ASL for the last, oh 19 years but I am still pretty sloppy at times (esp since I am not so dependent on my parents anymore). Its also difficult because signs have evolved and changed slightly with merging of new signs and new slang Read how I did it…
I just collected all of the current loans I have:
#1: Sub Stafford: 3,065
#2: Unsub Stafford: 2,085.54 (with interest)
#3: Sub Stafford: 5,500
Its difficult because #3 is for this year (so after this I will have another year of undergrad) but my budget increased a lot (I am going abroad fall quarter) so my loans increased by 1,000 and I rejected the other loans.
my goal is before I graduate with my BS I’d like to pay off #2 because it has a higher percentage for interest and I have to pay all of the interest. I will start work on it when I come back from France. That will give me well over 6 quarters (including summer) to get rid of that debt.
Started to read a really basic book “the everything personal finance in your 20’s and 30’s”. I stopped reading after it started to discuss buying a home, car etc.
