With travel costs so high and my niece’s wedding coming up in late August, there’s just no way we can make two trips back east this summer.

Not without a good teacher...

I strongly recommend finding a good, patient teacher if you want to learn how to knit. Even if you are quite good at following written directions, it will be easier to learn and understand the actions if you have someone there beside you to coach you and check your stitches occasionally. I could not have figured things out without the help of my friend Ericka.

After years of wanting/trying/failing to learn to knit, I finally buckled down yesterday and was lucky enough to have a patient and gracious friend teach me how to cast on and knit using the Continental method. I won’t consider this “thing” done, though, until I’ve actually produced something.
