Thanks to Ben, found a nice little place on Irving Street with lots of tasty, cheap dim sum! So this morning I walked there and got some to take back for breakfast: baked pork bun, BBQ pork turnover, curry puff, shrimp and cilantro dumplings, and some red bean pudding. Amazing! And all of that came to $4. I love the tastes and textures – can’t wait to try as many as possible.

I dreamed that I was smoking a cigarette on a train. It may have been a band trip somewhere? but we were taking a train. Then I got in trouble when it started to smell like smoke and two cops came by and told me to put it away. I think that in the dream I knew that what I was doing was disgusting, but I wanted to or had to try it anyway. I woke up mad at myself.
Another dream involved a neighborhood (presumably mine, though it didn’t look like anywhere in real life), and at one point I was walking behind a little girl and a big French poodle. Girl and poodle matched in their poufiness. The dream also involved waking up early, or being woken up early, perhaps by relatives, and then I actually woke up to the sound of my alarm and felt that it was much to early.
I never would have thought to do this before my mom, at fifty years old (and not in great shape before training), did the Danskin women’s sprint triathlon with her two co-workers. It was a fantastic event and I actually got choked up to see so many women, of all ages and body types, come running into the finish. She’s doing it again this year, and is even leading a training group. The biggest obstacle, for me, is the swimming – I’m not at ALL a confident swimmer. Water makes me nervous. The biking and running won’t be too bad, but I’ll definitely need some extra training on swimming – I almost feel like I need to start over, as the only thing I can really do is the backstroke (my crawl is awful). Not sure when I’ll have the time to do this, but definitely at some point in the (relatively) near future. Learning to be a better swimmer is, after all, a useful skill no matter what, and I need physical challenges like this to get me off my rear.
