If I lived in LA with my mom, I would be watching spanish television all day to learn spanish. I don’t know how effecitive it would be, but I heard from several people that they learned a language from watching TV shows. My freshman roommate minored in spanish and watched Telemundo, the only spanish channel on OSU cable, all the time, though she already knew a lot of it. Maybe I’ll try that when I get a place of my own. If it’s a big enough city, maybe I’ll get cable for their foreign television shows.

I just requested 3 canning and preserving books. It’s funny. Some things (gardening, canning, cooking, etc) that people just know, from parents, other people or osmosis, I have learn to discover myself. And the choice method of absorption, at least at first, reading library books.

I had my first bit of home-grown salad today. So I will consider this goal completed. I would like to one day grow enough food to last me a year, but that will have to wait until I have a permanent home and some land and the time.
