I’ve been working for almost a year now and whilst I love my job, I feel like I should be doing more to aid my professional development (that I can’t get at work). Also, I feel inspired as one of my friends is the busiest person I know and can still squeeze in doing an OU Masters! So he inspired me to register for a prospectus to be sent to me so I am going to see what I fancy doing :)

How I did it: I went with my family. We packed so much into 1 week that it feels like we were there for 2 weeks but we had so much fun!!It's funny, New York itself is exactly how you would imagine it to be as you see it everywhere in movies and TV but at the same time it is so beautiful and surreal and I loved looking up at the tall buildings towering over you, discovering the little villages and shopping streets like Canal Street and Greenwich Village… Read how I did it…
How I did it: Well technically my parents are into the property business and 2 years ago they decided to buy a house in my name. I currently have £15,000 in equity on it which is very comforting for the future as I don't have any savings or anything. At least I know I'll always be able to get a footing on the property ladder. How I did it: My mum and I spent 2 days clearing out my room. I filled up 3 box files of random things from my life that I wanted to keep- things I knew I'd want to look back over in the future. I got rid of old beanie babies and things I've just accumulated. It was fun because I was re-discovering things over and over. What was interesting is that things that I specifically remember NOT wanting to throw away when I was younger, were just meaningless t… Read how I did it…

I love waking up early in the mornings now :) even when I don’t have work to go to. I’m managing on 5 – 7 hours sleep a night during the week and only get an extra hour on weekends but it is enough.
My days are much longer and fuller and it just feels so good. I used to have the problem that, especially on weekends, you think you “may as well” sleep longer since you don’t have much to do. So now I make sure I get up and just go to the shop to get some juice or the newspaper.
Sometimes if I forget to set an alarm I can still sleep until midday but I don’t like to anymore if I can help it! I never thought I’d be writing this a year ago when I was still a student!
What helped me most: Getting the “Sleep Cycle” app on my iPhone! It wakes you up when you are just coming out of a sleep cycle (i.e. when you move more = you are more awake) that is closest to your alarm. Sometimes I can wake up 40 minutes before my alarm but I am much more refreshed. It is a miracle worker, I promise. It doesn’t happen every morning, but the times that it does- really surprise me.
I have finally stopped biting my nails, however, as my nails are long I find myself picking at the skin around my thumbs :( still a bit further to go…
Putting nail varnish on definitely helps. My favourite is a dark purple colour, that way when it starts to chip, it looks bad so I put more on!
