I have always been a list-maker. But the times when I’m making lists seem to be the times when I’m not accomplishing the stuff on them. And the times I’ve been wildly productive, I’ve also felt like I was one disorganized step from the abyss. I want to have the best of both worlds! I want to have my tidy little list and the energy and drive to DO the stuff on the tidy little list. Possible? Yeah, I think it is.

How I did it: I had just gotten paid, and knew that with some careful budgeting in the coming week, I could afford to pay off my fines. I made sure I had my card with me, and I selected a relatively quiet time so that I wouldn't hold up the line if there turned out to be any issues with my account. The library lady very nicely broke down my fines to me, even though I didn't ask for those details, and asked me about the circumstances behind … Read how I did it…
This year, I’ve got to do it. I want to run Boston and get the darn jacket so I can retire from this marathon nonsense and get my life back! I have to run a 3:45. I’ve run 3:40 twice, and should be able to tough it out this time around.
. . . but the times I drop by the library never seem to be the times I have eighty bucks handy. On my last move, I accidentally packed a dozen library books in with my books, and only unearthed them a year later. That was a spendy mistake. The nice library lady told me I could plead my case, but I love libraries and know they’re financially strapped anyway. I’m going to pay this. On payday. For real.
