Ok, so I’m not as good as I was before, but I will be now I’ve gone back to basics…my top tip for this is to setup your stall, get your chosen instrument down into the living space (my wife has helped a great deal with this and been so understanding, I love her to bits). She really has pushed me, and made me understand it was stupid to think I was going to pick up the guitar and play at the same standard I was at before, I just need to take it steady and see where it all goes!
I realised that I was doing it for all the wrong reasons before…to make a living, get famous whatever it was in my teenage mind. Now I just want to have FUN! A very good musician friend has started setting up a new band Rhythm Voodoo Devils he ’s already in two gigging bands so just wants something to fill in the empty slots here and there – as and when for a bit of FUN so it sounds good to me…hopefully it’ll come off, the name has already inspired my playing so lovin’ it!
So the top tips for achieving this goal are to :-
Ensure your chosen instrument / practice aids are close to hand in the centre of your living space.
Go back to your basics, work back up into where you were before.
Think real hard…and find out deep down why you want to do this…then write it down in big letters and put it in your practice space, to remind you at the times when the going gets tough to have fun, enjoy the relase whatever your reason.
Cheers.
