Ok, i was going to only take one day off a week, which I did on Sunday, but today I just could not get going… I attrribute this to a few factors:
1. I may be overtraining. I can’t help it, I love it. I love this new way of working out at a slower pace, which my trainer has recommended for initial fat burning. So I swim slow, walk slow, use the cross-trainer on slow, and well, I lift weights at a normal speed, but use just medium weights
2. This week I switched to doing 3 sets of 15 on my weights, instead of 2 sets. And I added squats and lunges and such on Monday.
3. This week I decided to lower my calorie intake. As a result, for two days this week (second week), I have been eating under 1500 a day… I realize this might be making me weak.
4. I am not eating enough protein.
I have used my “day off” today wisely by reading up on stuff. This is how I discovered two of the above (not eating enough protein and overtraining). I still believe I can do 1.5 hours of cardio a day, but I think I will go back down to the recommended 2 sets of weight lifting and just 4 exercises a day (my change this week was to double that). And I will have to buy some protein powder and some frozen fruit. I can use vanilla plus milk and frozen berries. Luckily I usually get sick of smoothies, so at least I won’t overindulge, and one smoothie a day will increase my protein and get me to at least 1500 calories.
Also note, I had my first egg-white scramble today. Uh, I need to learn how to do that, what a mess! I had it with some asparagus/garlic for breakfast. Yum!
