lose my virginity
Its hard to say... 3 years ago

... whether this is worth it or not.

I think too much of an issue is made of virginity, having it, not having it, keeping it, losing it. Its not like some miracle milestone that changes your life. Its the beginning of a journey of sexual self-discovery.

Sex can be a wonderful experience, but it takes time to discover ones own likes and dislikes, as well as developing a good relationship to someone with whom you can freely communicate those likes and dislikes. Openness, honesty, exploration, a sense of adventure, responsibility, safety and trust are all important aspects of a good sexual relationship.

So though losing ones virginity can be fun, it shouldn’t be a primary goal. The development of a rich, enjoyable, fulfilling and safe sex life should be the goal.

Keep my new home
It is the one year anniversary of Katrina 3 years ago

.... and to celebrate, my landlord is evicting me. A month ago, my two primary sources of income were cut off at once. This left me temporarily, and I stress temporarily, unable to pay rent. Only ten days late with rent and my landlord begins the eviction process.

The thought of facing such loss one year after losing everything in Katrina has been emotionally paralysing. I’ve suffered anxiety, panic attacks, sleeplessness, inability to eat, nausea, headaches and exhaustion. I’ve called the suicide hotline three times in the last week. As a person who is usually very positive in outlook, determined and strong, I see very negative changes in myself. I know that a lot of the old panic from that devastating loss a year ago is creeping back into my psyche.

I am in the process of rectifying my financial situation, but the wheels of beaurocracy turn slowly, while the wheels of eviction turn quickly. Anyone who wishes to help can sign the petition to prevent my complex from evicting Katrina evacuees.

George W Bush has declared the 29th of August a day of remembrance for victims of Katrina. Remember with compassion, not greed.

Build a solar cooker
This is my spring project 3 years ago

I’ve found a lot of neat and easy-to-build designs on the net, so my springtime project will be to build a solar cooker, and cook with it out on my balcony to conserve energy (and save money!). I’ll keep you up on my progress.
