Since I set this up as a goal, my life seems to have changed completely. From mild depression, I now feel focused and happy. I enjoy my job, and am beginning to get to grips with the house.
I declare this goal reached :-)

I and a group of friends have now moved onto Walking in this World. I did most of TAW, but not every single exercise. I definitely feel it’s improved my creativity.
I think that professional translating is something best left to those lucky, lucky people who had the great fortune to either be brought up bilingual or brought up in a different country, so that they are equally fluent in both languages.
