This weekend I got to watch my best friend, one of the greatest loves of my life, marry the absolute love of his life. The wedding was short, but sweet and quite beautiful. It took a lot out of me to keep me from crying happy tears. I don’t think i have ever seen either of them happier, and that was the greatest thing possible. Being the maid of honor was a great priviledge that I was beyond honored to have. They are amazing people, and I am glad they have met each other. The best thing he ever did in his life was to break my heart to form a relationship with her. They have an amazing child together, and now have begun the biggest stage of their lives together. I am blessed to have been a part of this from the beginning and to watch it all unfold.

I have wanted to get a tattoo for a long time, and I wanted to make sure it had meaning to me and my life, so I decided a long time ago that if I ever got a tattoo, that at least my first one would be something that I designed myself, because if I am going to beautifully scar my skin for the rest of my life, I wanted it to symbolize a lot of things for me, not just a pretty picture that I pick out of a book. Not to say that there is anything wrong with someone getting their tattoo’s that way, it’s just not the way I want to do it. So I have been gearing myself up to this for years, trying to figure out what I want my art to say for me and about me. On Saturday night I finally started to put some real work into my design. I have dabbled at it for years now, but I now have a concrete idea in my head of where I want my tattoo and what I want it to be and mean. I want to incorporate a lot of aspects of my life, while paying tribute to some of my passions. In this spirit I have decided that I am going to have a latin phrase incorporated into the design. “amor est infinitus” is my current choice, meaning love is infinite. I like this phrase because of part of the design in the tattoo is about love, and also because of my beautiful son. My second tattoo, after this one, will be my son’s name on my ankle, but until then I wanted to do this. It’s something I truly believe, and my son and my best friend have helped me to feel that love truly is infinite, and I want to pay tribute to the knowledge they have brought into my life.
this is a hard one to say is worth doing, but in the long run I really think that it is worth having happen at least once in your life. It teaches you to value the loves you have in your life, and makes you love in stronger and move passionate ways. It shows you the risks are sometimes worth taking, because even if the pain is hard to deal with, it leads to something even more beautiful in your life. It leaves room for something better to come a long.
