This makes it sound as if I will constantly be comparing them to the old dog, which isn’t exactly what I’m going for. I can’t think of a good way to phrase it. I guess I’d just like to own an amazing dog. The kind of dog that after it died I would think back on with the same nostalgia of a lost lover (minus the sexuality, so maybe like a third grade romance or something). This also makes it sound like I would be one of those people that loves their dog a little too much, which hopefully won’t be true.
