This is a goal I will never finish.
Not because it’s impossible. I’m doing it. I have my moments, true. Everyone has their moments. Sometimes it’s really hard to hold your own in this crazy world.
It’s not impossible to be a good Christian.
But you can always be better.
I say that because there is always something that, even if you don’t realize it, you might be holding in higher esteem than God. You might be thinking about something more than you think about God and what you can do to please Him.
In Philippians, Paul tells us that he pours out his life as a drink offering, and encourages his fellow Christians to do the same. And there are so many wonderful people in this world who have poured their lives out so that they might be of service to the people around them and to Christ. But there are many other people who hold back because they are afraid or because they do not know how much it is truly worth to pour out your life for the Kingdom.
Keep this in mind. Our duty as Christians is to pour out our lives. If you are not pouring out every drop, you can be a better Christian and you can offer more. And when you think you have nothing left to give, God will give you a free refill, and you can pour your life out some more.

Wow, I really suck at this.
Maybe I should change my goal.
Get some freaking willpower!
I don’t think anything could be more true about love.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.
-1 Corinthians 13:4-8
It has occurred to me that perhaps I have already reached my goal of “falling in love for real”. Because I have this kind of love with some people. They are my friends. They are the people that I might not spend the rest of my life with in any way, shape or form. We might lose touch after I go to college, or maybe after I graduate and find a job somewhere else and a place somewhere else. Which I can’t imagine happening because I want my kids to go to that church and that school that I was never lucky enough to go to.
But I might have already reached this goal. Because I do love these people, who are my family in all but DNA, with all the biblical characteristics of love. I love this group with a love that I pray will never fail and will never be below the one and only true standard of love.
I have discovered the perfect description of love. My question to myself is, do I have this kind of love in my life? Am I living this out?
