Five Questions:

1) Do you think education should be inclusive of the whole human self?
2) Do you want to dismantle the illusion of our separateness?
3) Are you hungry for adventure, connection and resilience?
4) Do you like Indian food and walking barefoot?
5) Is the whole universe your home?

...apply to be a CLP-INDIA volunteer THIS summer!

CLP is a non-profit organization that seeks a world where learning is liberating and all forms of knowledge are valued; where we engage, understand and respond to to the fragmenting effects of oppression and exclusivity as we embrace and cultivate wholeness for the individual, community and world.

CLP is a space that supports this idea in many ways—within ourselves, our families, our relationships, our communities and in the world.

Globally, CLP works in India with youth and youth-advocacy organizations to create opportunities for youth to engage their world through values-based, dialogical leadership programming. CLP PC’s (Program Coordinators) are mentors working in collaboration with Indian leaders to imagine a new world for people in the communities with which we work.

COORDINATOR ACTIVITIES:

- Will begin training and discussions in January 2010 on skills, curriculum, liberating pedagogy, anti-oppression and organizing
- Will work with fellow volunteers for 6 months to engage questions of development, education and inequality
- Will spend 3 weeks in India in the summer, serving as leaders and mentors in Indian classrooms and NGOs alongside other youth-advocates to support other human beings in their quest for meaning and global engagement
- Will support their fellow-teammates as human beings eager to make a change in their lives and the world around them: challenging, supporting, and committing themselves to the work of social change

COSTS:

CLP volunteers pay their own preparational and travel costs. The only monies paid to CLP is a non-refundable $500 living expenses (boarding, travel to and from field sites and on-site food) costs for your three weeks in-country.

DATES:

CLP volunteers are expected to commit to discussions, planning and organizing activities from January 2010 till their departure. Following their return from India, volunteers will also serve as mentors and guides for the organization based upon their experience serving in the USA and India.

The India component of CLP is approximately 3 weeks, with two separate “sessions” available for volunteers.

Session 1 Volunteers: ARRIVE in India Monday, July 5 and DEPART Friday, July 23.
Session 2: ARRIVE in India Monday, August 2 and DEPART Friday, August 20.

experience 100 new things by the end of December 2009 (read all 80 entries…)
79/100 ask for something in my mind and get it delivered two minutes later 3 days ago

This isn’t really a new experience but today’s was so grand it wasn’t even funny.

I asked for food to be handed to me so I could have a snack before lunch and it arrived. I specifically asked for something really tasty and there it was! A scone from my favorite bakery in town as handed to me for FREE!

WOW! I love my mind power.

read 52 books (read all 33 entries…)
31/100 The Boxcar Children 3 days ago

My son and I both read this together – he is so into reading now as a 2nd grader it is awesome. I had hoped he’d like to read and now that I put all that work and effort into it since he was a little guy it seems to be paying off. :)

This was a great chapter book for him to read because it was easy for him but not super easy. I am proud of him.

I wonder if we can find more in the series? I think he’d like to read the rest and he really liked the Henry character.
